Zanders FM and Reach FM will face each other in the opening game of the 2019 Imo Radio League on Saturday in Owerri.
The draw for the 2019 debut edition of the BETKING sponsored seven-a-side men football Imo Radio League was conducted midweek at the popular The Hive Event Centre, Owerri with representatives of BETKING, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and other sponsors in attendance to grace the occasion.
Eight teams comprising of six radio stations, a television station and the fusion of Bloggers and Print Media.
The teams are Darling FM, Zanders FM, My Radio FM, Reach FM, Oziza FM and Orient FM while Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and Bloggers and Print Media complete the list.
At the end of the draw which had participating teams picking the group they are to belong, Zanders FM, Reach FM, Darling FM and My Radio FM are in Group A while Bloggers/Print Media, NTA, Orient FM and Oziza FM are paired in Group B.
The tournament will start with a novelty match between Darling FM women and Zanders FM women’s team on Saturday by 4 pm at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, Owerri while the real opening game of the Imo Radio League will commence by 5 pm when Zanders FM and Reach FM slug it out at the same venue.
The winner of the competition will smile home with N200,000 while the second and third will be rewarded with N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.
The remaining five participating teams will get N30,000 each while jerseys will be provided to the eight participating teams which will be used for the competition.
The final game of the Imo Radio League will be December 8, 2019, at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, Owerri.
