Former Under 17 World Champion and Super Eagles skipper, Kanu Nwankwo has tasked the Golden Eaglets to go extra mile and ensure they beat the Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the grand finale of the 2021 WAFU UFOA B U17 Championship in Togo.

The two-time African Footballer Of The Year, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player of the competition and also helped Nigeria to win the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Japan urged the players to give more their supposed best against the Ivoriens to ensure they retain the title once more.

“This is a dream that all of you have to represent Nigeria playing for the national team. Go into the pitch tomorrow (tonight) and let everyone of you work for each other. Be positive, give everything,” Kanu said in a live video session with the team and picked up by dasportstainment247.com.

“Give 150% and also put extra on the pitch. This is a team you’ve played before and by God’s grace you will beat them. I wish you all the best. Let all the players believe that they’re going to win. Let your name be in the history book that you are part of the team who won the 2021 WAFU U17 title and from there you prepare for another tournament.

“We are proud of you and believe in you, come back being the champions.” He added.

When both teams clash in the final on Monday night in Togo, the Golden Eaglets will be going with revenge in mind having lost 1-0 to the same team in their first game of the competition.

Fatai Amoo’s tutored kids recovered from the loss to the Baby Elephants to draw with the Black Starlets of Ghana before pipping the Junior Etalons of Burkina Faso 1-0 in the semi-final.

But the Ivoriens have won all the three games they have played to cruise to the final with five goals scored and one conceded.
