Kano Pillars Volleyball Club defeated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Spikers 3-0 (25-19, 31-29, 25-19) on the Day 3 of the ongoing Nigeria Volleyball Super Cup held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State to ensure they picked the second semi final ticket in the group.
Sunshine Spikers maintained their 100 percent start to the Super Cup with a close 3-2 victory over hard-fighting Nigeria Police Force in a game they won 25-17, 25-15, 27-29, 19-25, 15-11. Sunshine Spikers raced to a two set lead before they allowed their adversary to claw their way back into the game to level scores but they took charge of proceedings in the fifth set to maintain their unbeaten start.
Sunshine Spikers thus topped the group ahead of Kano Pillars and they will face the defending champions, Nigeria Customs Service in the semi-final on Tuesday in Ilorin.
In the other Men’s game, the reigning Champions, Nigeria Customs Service managed to secure the second semi-final ticket after a 3-0 drubbing of Offa Volleyball Club (25-23, 25-22, 25-20). They are second behind NSCDC who won their both games against Offa Volleyball Club and Nigeria Customs Service.
In the women’s category, Kada Emeralds outwitted Heartland Strikers 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) in the last group game to qualify for the semi-final of the Nigeria Volleyball Super Cup where they will meet NSCDC on Tuesday while NSCDC thrashed Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-22) for their second victory of the competition.
In the other semi-final tie also billed for Tuesday, Nigeria Customs Service face Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
