Cyriel Dessers is back with the Super Eagles. The Feyenoord striker has been called up for the upcoming international match.
Dessers saw his dream come true in the spring of 2020 with a call-up for The Super Eagles , but corona put a line through the bill. Six months later, on October 30, he made his debut against Tunisia. “Proud and honored to represent such a great football nation as Nigeria,” the striker said at the time.
In recent years, Dessers has been missing from the Nigerian selection, where competition is stiff with, among others, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Leicester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho. However, that duo is missing from the current list. Dessers makes his comeback and is thus rewarded for his strong performance in recent times. The 27-year-old attacker has scored six times in his last six games and is the top scorer in the Europa Conference League with 10 goals from 12 games.
The Feyenoord player may be able to play his second and third international match for Nigeria at the end of May and the beginning of June. The African squad will face Mexico on May 29 (four days after the Conference League final) and face Ecuador five days later.
The Nigerian who is on loan at Feyenoord from Genk has scored 19 goals from 39 games with eight assists from all competitions.
