Naija Ratels Manager, Bankole Olowookere has praised the doggedness and resilience of his players despite their penalty shoot-out loss to Nasarawa Amazons in the semi-final of the 2020 Flying Officers Cup on Saturday in Abuja.
Olowookere who doubles as the Nigeria U-17, the Flamingos head coach affirmed that Naija Ratels stint in the 2020 Flying Officers Cup has been full of positives with the emphatic win over Kaduna Queens and Royal Queens and the 1-1 draw against Nasarawa Amazons his team’s major highlights in the tournament.
He noted that their performance against tougher and more experienced opposition showed that the team is heading towards something great.
“I’m proud of my players, they showed alot of class all through the competition. I am glad to say we are heading for something great,” Olowookere told the Flying Officers Cup Media.
“The team is young and want to win all games, they are energetic and have the never say die spirit. I am glad we have our heads high heading to play against Edo Queens in the third place, having lost to them narrowly during the group stages.
“This pre-season Championship has brought us alot of opportunity to know where we stand and how we can improve on our games. We shall continue to work hard as a team and get better with every time given to us,” he concluded.
Naija Ratels still have an opportunity to end the tournament on a high note with a third place match against Edo Queens who pipped them 1-0 in one of the group matches.
