.Atshimene, Udoh’s goals fuel easy win


Charles Atshimene notched his 10th goal of the season while Mfon Udoh ended his goal drought for his seventh of the campaign as two first-half goals extended Akwa United’s lead at the top of the league table to four points.

With most of the Week 28 league games to be played today the Promise Keepers seize the opportunity of an early kick-off to exert their authority on top of the table with a routine 2-0 home win over hapless Adamawa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Atshimene, an acquisition from Warri Wolves at the beginning of the season fired home his 10th goal of the season past Friday Achimugwu in the 26th minute and Udoh who had a blistering run at the start of the season before he got stuck in front of goal doubled the advantage in the 45th minute.

There was no further goal in the second half as Akwa United further cemented their place at the top with 53 points from 28 games ahead of Kano Pillars who are second with 49 points but with a game in hand against Jigawa Golden Stars today.
