Life Camp Volleyball Club were the latest club to lose their invincibility after they were beaten 3-1 by Sword Spikers of Benue. It was their first loss after winning they won their opening seven games of the National Division 2 League.
Life Camp of Abuja quickly rallied back to secure their eighth win after they dispatched NAF Rockets 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-15) in their second game of Day 5.
Speaking on the setback and how rallied back to regain their composure, the head coach of Life Camp VC of Abuja, Suleiman Ibrahim praised the performance of his players and stated that it was normal they lose a game or two after going unbeaten for almost the entire first phase.
He said his players never buckled under pressure and that their defeat of NAF Rockets after their first loss showed that they could overcome adversities.
“In every competition it may be difficult for you to win all your games. It doesn’t mean you are a bad team. The boys tried their best and normally every team that has won about seven straight games it is normal for fatigue to set in,” Ibrahim told dasportstainment247.com.
“I am able to talk to the boys and they won their next two games. Our aim is to be at the top of the table so that by the second phase it will be a bit easier for us. However, we take every match and every phase as it comes.”
Ibrahim commended the standard of the Division 1 and 2 Leagues hailing the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Musa Nimrod and his giant strides to keep volleyball working again in Nigeria.
“The championship has been very interesting. We were all surprised that we have up to 11 teams in Division 2. It means Volleyball is growing. Initially you hardly have up to five teams that will register for Division 2. Division 1 is only but five teams. It means Volleyball is growing from the grassroots to Division 2.
“It is encouraging to witness this kind of championship which has produced new set of players from the grassroots. Players can be picked to the national team from here. They should keep it up so that Nigeria Volleyball Federation can be revived again,” he concluded.
