The honourable Minister for Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare on Saturday morning declared Ogbomosho Marathon Race which attracted numerous athletes from across the country open.
The honourable minister was represented at the glamorous event tagged ‘Ogbomoso Marathon Race’ by his media aide, Kola Daniel.
“I am here to represent the Minister who could not make the trip to Ogbomoso owing to his tight schedules,” Kola Daniel disclosed.
Kola Daniel commended the Sports Minister for sponsoring event like this which serves as an avenue to discover and develop raw talents, and urge the organizers not to relent.
“I must admit the fact that, i am highly impressed with what i have seen here today. I am happy that the young talented athletes have showcased what they can do when it comes to long distance race, it is really worthy of note that their is abundance of talents in this country,” Kola noted
The minister through his representative further acknowledged the fact that event like this will no doubt pave way for young athletes to become world stars.
“There is no better way to discover young and local talents than putting together a magnificent event like this. We witnessed the Lagos, Kaduna marathon race and now Ogbomoso Marathon Race, kudos to the organizers. It can only get better.
“The iron of it all is that Marathon symbolize, the journey of life, a race that involve ups and downs, that might be stormy, curvy, rough or whatever. Winning triumph is the expected goal.

“I want to commend my principal, the Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare who made the event a reality with his finacial and material contribution towards the success of the Ogbomosho Marathon Race.
Notable dignitaries in attendance were veteran sports journalist Dare Esan, former Kwara State Director of Sports, Mr. Kazeem and Secretary Genaral of Athletics Federation of Nigeria Mr Niyi.
Others at the event were Dr. Amos Adamu former CAF Executive board member, Mr. Olamide George AFN President, Honourable Olajide Adisa Chairman Ogbomoso South Local Government among others.
