Rivers United moved to the fourth spot and within four points of league leaders, Kwara United after they pipped Enyimba 1-0 at the Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt yesterday.
Ex-Enyimba’s striker, Sunday Adetunji who made his debut for the Pride of Rivers in the game scored the only goal of the game through a glancing header off a beautifully curled cross from Kazie Enyinnaya in the 85th minute.
Rivers United dominated the game but a resolute defending from the People’s Elephant threatened a goalless draw until Adetunji netted against his former club.
Rivers United are in the fourth position with 32 points from 19 games but Enyimba are in the seventh spot with 30 points from 16 games. The People’s Elephant still have three games at hand including Wednesday’s re-arranged tie with FC IfeanyiUbah in Aba.
