36 Lion saved the best for last as they cruised to the final of the Super 8 King’s Cup after a 2-1 victory over DN 10 FC in their last Group A game played on Friday in Lagos and will face another Lagos emerging team and former winner of the State of Excellence’s FA Cup, Smart City.
36 Lion drew their opening two games against G12 FC and Broad City and needed a win to contemplate any thought of qualification for the Saturday morning grand finale.
They were up against the same team that defeated them in the final of another tournament held at Lead University Pitch, Ibadan a few days back, DN10. 36 Lion pipped DN10 FC 2-1 and not only picked the ticket to the final but avenged the 2-0 loss to the same team in Ibadan.
In the other Group A game, Broad City beat G12FC 1-0 to pick the other ticket from the group and will slug it out with Box to Box in the third place match billed for Saturday by 8:00 am.
In the Group B games decided also on Friday, Smart City sealed a date with 36 Lion after they pipped Box to Box by a lone goal while FC Bethel thrashed Obazz 3-0 the result couldn’t guarantee them a top two finish from Group B.
The Super ‘8’ King’s Cup is another tournament that affords scouts and agents to explore raw talent for possible deals abroad.
