Jr. Sporting Boys 5-0 whiplash of Young Champions, Relentless FA 6-4 victory in a 10 goal thriller against Young Reformers, Young Stars’ 4-0 loss to Jazzy Stars and Ceemonie SA lone goal win at SJC Lions produced the highlights of the last weekend in the Under 14 category of the Tsenba Wummen Football League Week 13 fixtures played across two centres and which had 33 goals scored, seven wins, and two draws recorded from the nine matches played.
In the Under 16 cadre of the same football league season, FC Izam continued their season’s sterling performances with an 11-1 walloping of hapless Mabo Young Stars; Mees Palace Football Academy thrashed Tin City FA 2-0 to widen the gap at the top to six points; while St. Monica’s FA lost more ground in the title race after a surprise 3-3 draw at home to Jazzy Stars as eight victories, two draws, and 34 goals were recorded from the 10 games played also across two venues.
Under 14 Wrap
The cat and mouse race for the league shield continued in grand style with the top five teams maintaining their spots but Mees Palace FA held on to their two points cushion at the top after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Highland FA. Israel James’ strike six minutes from time proved to be the back-breaking goal barely three minutes after Highland FA’s Tapshak Jacob thought he had scored the equaliser. Mees Palace have 35 points from 13 games after securing their 11th win of the season. Despite the loss Highland FA remained in the third spot with 29 points but they have had the gap between them and fourth placed Jr. Sporting Boys reduced to two points.
Relentless FA were impeccable in defence at the start of the season but have been porous lately after they conceded four goals against Young Reformers in a 6-4 victory that kept them in second place on the table with 33 points from 13 matches.
Jeremiah Sunday scored again for Relentless FA while a hat-trick from Matthew Philip added gloss to the result. Young Reformers who slipped a spot down to 14th position with 13 points also had Nanribet Daniel Gowon in scoring form with three goals in the game.
Ceemonie SA’s fourth minute goal through Pwajok David handed them a priceless three point against SJC Lions. The win saw them maintain their 12th spot with 18 points but SJC Lions plummeted to the 13th spot with 15 points from 11 games despite playing two of their outstanding games recently while Jazzy Stars thrashed Young Stars 4-0 with Marvelous Adalong netting two of the goals to help his side to the sixth spot with 21 points. Young Stars are 15th with 12 points.
Hephzibah FA pipped Riverside FA 2-1 in a battle between relegation battlers. Both are placed 18th and 20th on the log with six and two points respectively. There were wins for Gangere Youths, Multiple Waves, and Jr. Sporting Boys too. Under 16 Wrap
While it is neck to neck in the title race in the Under 14 category with Relentless FA breathing down the neck of Mees Palace FA, the Under 16 cadre is gradually turning to a race between reigning champions, Mees Palace and others after the surprise 3-3 draw between St. Monica’s FA and Jazzy Stars opened up a six points gap at the top.
Ahmed Musa returned to scoring ways as Mees Palace beat Tin City FA 2-0 to move to 39 points from 13 games in a season they already scored 60 goals and conceded four. Tin City FA slipped to the sixth spot with 21 points from 12 games.
FC Izam displaced St. Monica’s FA to move to the second spot with 33 points from 13 games after they demolished hapless Mabo Young Stars 11-1. They are among the remaining two teams that are yet to suffer defeat this season alongside Mees Palace. Bulus John, Daniel Yakubu, Divine Austine, and Gabriel Danladi all scored a brace each in the rout.
Jesse Aruku was the slarlet on display after he netted all the three goals for SJC Lions in their defeat of Royal Stars. The Lions are 10th on the log with 17 points from 13 games while Royal Stars dropped to the 15th spot with 12 points.
St. Monica’s Isaac Jaho scored a hat-trick but Johnson Timothy’s strike for Jazzy Stars from the penalty spot three minutes from time rescued a point in a game that produced six goals. St. Monica are third on the log with 32 points from 13 games while Jazzy Stars are in the eighth spot with 18 points.
Rahbam pipped Galatians 1-0 to remain in the top four with 29 points while Jeddy Academy, City Rollers, and Kuru Young Stars also won their weekend matches.
