RIVERS ANGELS 2-1 OSUN BABES
Cynthia Aku 4’|1-0, Yemisi Samuel 18’|1-1
Damilola Koku 49′ |2-1

Rivers Angels are the only unbeaten team in the NWFL Premiership after Edo Queens went down 3-2 in Yenogoa to league leaders, Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday. The Jewel of Rivers got the scare of their lives but still managed to secure the maximum points at home to Osun Babes.
It was as if the game would go according to plans when Cynthia Aku got the curtain raiser in the fourth minute but the Omoluabi Queens recovered from the early setback to equalise 14 minutes later through Yemisi Samuel. Edwin Okon led ladies got the second goal through Damilola Koku and it was how the game ended.
Rivers Angels continued to pile pressure on Bayelsa Queens who are dictating the pace at the top with 15 points from six games while Rivers Angels followed closely with 14 points. Osun Babes slumped to the seventh spot with nine points from the same number of games.

SUNSHINE QUEENS 1-0 IBOM ANGELS

Mercy Idoko 21′

Mercy Idoko’s 21st-minute effort was enough to hand Sunshine Queens their third win of the season against Ibom Angels at the Ondo Sports Complex, Akure. It was the Owena Babes second consecutive win after the away win of last week against Abia Angels.
Sunshine Queens improved to the fifth position with 10 points from six games while Ibom Angels slipped to the 13th spot after consecutive losses to Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens. They have four points from six games.

DREAMSTAR LADIES 0-1 PELICAN STARS

Chiwendu Ufomba 22′

DreamStar Ladies’ wait for their second victory of the season was punctured at the Agege Stadium, Lagos by equally desperate Pelican Stars who earned their first win of the season by the virtue of their 1-0 away triumph over their hosts in Lagos.
Chiwendu Ufomba popped home what turned out to be the match-winner in the 22nd minute. The vital win takes Pelican points haul to five and have moved to the 12th position from the bottom of the table before the start of the Matchday Six fixtures.

NASARAWA AMAZONS 2-1 ABIA ANGELS

Margaret Ademulegun 16 ‘0-1, Anita Ucheogbu 46’ (OG)| 1-1, Ejalonibu Adejoke 86’| 2-1

Nasarawa Amazons had an improved second half to avoid another heartbreak at the Lafia Township Stadium against Abia Angels. The Betty Ladies stunned their host with the opening goal in the 16th minute through Margaret Ademulegun and held on stoutly throughout the first-half. But at the inception of the second-half, the Amazons equalised from their first real attack through an own goal scored by Anita Ucheogbu in the 46th minute before Adejoke Ejalonibu put the icing on the cherry with the second goal with four minutes before the full time. Nasarawa Amazons are 11th on the log with six points after only their second win of the season while Abia Angels have plummeted to the 10th spot with the same six points.

FC ROBO QUEENS 3-1 ROYAL QUEENS

Esther Oyenezide 30’| 1-0, Esther Ndubuisi 38’|2-0, Eunice Godwin 55’| 2-1, Taiwo Lawal 72’| 3-1

FC Robo Queens returned to winning ways after their blip last week in Lokoja to Confluence Queens with a routine home win over Royal Queens at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Lagos.

Esther Onyenezide and Esther Ndubuisi put the home team two goals up in the 30th and 38th minutes but Royal Queens pulled a goal back in the 55th minute through Eunice Godwin before Taiwo Lawal put a seal on the result with the third goal in the 72nd minute. FC Robo remained in the third position with 12 points from six games while Royal Queens are in the ninth spot with seven points.

CONFLUENCE 0-0 DELTA QUEENS

Confluence Queens lost the services of their head coach, Whyte Ogbonda a couple of hours before the game with Delta Queens, and without adequate guard, they were unable to make it back to back home win. They played a disappointing goalless draw and slipped to the eighth spot with eight points while Delta Queens are in the sixth position with 10 points.

BAYELSA QUEENS 3-2 EDO QUEENS

Joy Jerry 19’| 1-0, Elizabeth Zirike 24’| 1-1, Charity Reuben 48’| 2-1, Elizabeth Zirike 69(P)| 2-2, Charity Reuben 92’| 3-2

It was a five-goal thriller at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa as the Edo Queens unbeaten start to the NWFL Premiership was put to a crashing end by the league leaders, Bayelsa Queens on a chilly Wednesday evening.
Joy Jerry’s 19th-minute opener and two goals from Charity Reuben with her second of the game and the match-winner coming in the second minute of stoppage time were enough to end the irrepressible start of the Edo Queens who have been well motivated by the Edo Government. Edo Queens didn’t lie low either. They gave a brave fight and Elizabeth Zirike was on hand to net twice in the 24th and 69th minutes to level the tie up before the late goal from the home team. Zirike has now scored four goals in the league this season to rank among the top marks-women in the top flight.
