It was a dominant display in the second phase of the ongoing 2021 NPFL/La-Liga U-15 Promises Youth League in Enugu, as Warri Wolves beat defending champions, Katsina United, 4 – 1.
The Junior Wolves opened scoring in the 22nd minute of the enthralling encounter through Abdul Samuel, after some beautiful team interchange of passes in the build up.
The impressive young Seasiders held the advantage until the 38th minute, when the young Changi Boys leveled terms with an Umar Abubakar’s effort on goal.
A minute later the defending champions got the perfect response from the Seasiders, as Uwakwe Sampson restored their lead with a well timed strike.
Ten minutes into the second half, Vwegba Solomon made it 3 – 1 for the rampaging Wolves before substitute Uchenna Ejiogu grabbed his second goal of the competition and the Young Seasider’ fourth goal of the game in the 58th minute.
Warri Wolves will play Kwara United in their next game of the league today.
In the other games played yesterday, Heartland FC lost their first game in the competition after they were pipped to a 1-0 defeat by MFM. Lucky Akinleminu with the solitary goal for the Young Olukoya Boys in the 21st minute.
Kano Pillars beat Kwara United 2 -0 via two late goals. Idriss Khamsa with the opener in the 50th minute and Imrana Musa with the second in the 59th minute while Akwa United pinned Lobi Stars 1-0 with Nsikak Imoh’s 48th minute strike.
In today’s matches, MFM will face Warri Wolves in a clash involving the two teams with opening day wins in the second phase of the group stage while Heartland will hope to bounce ack to winning ways with a date with Lobi Stars. Kano Pillars and Katsina United are expected to battle each other in a North West derby.
