Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter is rejoicing with the newly elected National Deputy President of the Nigeria Referees Association(NRA), Kelechi Mejuobi.
Mejuobi had a landslide victory over his opponent, Egho Dave and SWAN, Imo in a congratulatory message co-signed by the Chairman, Everest Ezihe and his Secretary, Tunde Liadi, is wishing him a successful stint in office.
SWAN, Imo enjoins Mejuobi to use his position to help advance the cause of Nigerian referees to ensure they are duly credited and recognized for their services to Nigerian football.
The Sports Writing body in Imo State also implores Mejuobi to ensure the quality of refereeing improves in the Eastern Heartland through training and retraining of referees in Imo State for them to get national and international recognitions.
SWAN, Imo appeals to Mejuobi who also doubles as the Special Adviser, Media to Minister of State for Education and the co-publisher of Imo Trumpeta Newspapers to use his good office to lauder the image of Nigerian referees both within and outside Nigeria.
“We want to say that we were not surprised at your emergence as the Deputy President of the NRA. You served dutifully as the Publicity Secretary in the past eight years where you laid bare most of NRA activities without issues,” the statement stated.
“We know you capacity and are thrilled to be associated with you. We appeal you use your office to advance the interest of refereeing at both national and international levels.
“We also want you to spread your tentacles to Imo State Referees’ Council to ensure the council becomes very vibrant again through the offering of training and retraining activities.
“We pray that God sees you through in your new assignment just like the way you excelled as the Publicity Secretary for eight years.”
