The newly elected Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN Imo State chapter, Cosmos Chukwuemeka has vowed to work towards the growth of his members.
He stated this shortly after inaugurating the new executives of the association at Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri.
The Sports presenter noted that he is going to operate an open door policy and all inclusive government, stressing that his major target is to ensure growth of his members.
Puyaka as he is fondly called by his admirers, regretted that sports has no retirement benefits, and disclosed that he will try to create a trust fund for veterans in the profession.
“I will try to create a trust fund for our elders because, sports don’t come with retirement benefits,even if it is monthly stipends, because these are the people that opened the doors for me today”Cosmos said.
He noted that if the members are doing well,it is an indication that the association is doing well too.
He enjoined members of the association to be proactive in their reportage, adding that they should not limit themselves to their mediums alone, but to widen their scope through social media.
It would be recalled that Mr Cosmos Chukwuemeka on May 19,2024, defeated the incumbent chairman of the association in a peaceful and keenly contested election.
To this end,he is to pilot the affairs of the association till the next three years.
