Heartland FC will face Nnewi United in a friendly game Tuesday morning at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba near Onitsha in a friendly game for both teams to test their readiness for the Nigeria Professional Football League and the National League they will be taken part in respectively.
The Naze Millionaires have also drawn up a tour of Akwa Ibom capital, Uyo where they are expected to play Vandrezzer FC on Wednesday and two other unnamed teams before returning back to Owerri.
Paucity of funds has served as major hindrance to Heartland pre-season activities including missing a couple of pre-season tournaments but the club management under General Manager, Chukwudi Ifeanyi has tried to make judicious use of the funds that have been released to ensure the club’s preparations are not too affected.
Heartland have been very shrewd with transfer of players and have assembled quality players for the first time in recent seasons but the team has lacked sufficient friendly games. The game with Nnewi United Tuesday morning and the Wednesday fixture with Vandrezzer plus other ones lined up in Uyo should help knock the players back to shape with the NPFL season just around the corner.
Head coach of the team, Fidelis Ilechukwu and his technical officials and the entire management team have been doing amazing work to ensure things go seamlessly regardless of the challenges.
The Naze Millionaires will trade tackles with Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina in the opening fixture of the 2020-21 NPFL season.
