Flying Eagles boost up African Games preparations with an emphatic friendly tie win

The Flying Eagles have pummelled Soccer Star All Stars of Abuja 4-0 in a friendly match played on Wednesday morning at the Goal Project in Abuja. The Under 20 team are preparing for the African Games where they are going to represent Nigeria in the football event. Nigeria will be making their sixth appearance at the games in Rabat, Morocco since their debut outing in 1973 where they won the gold medal.

The Flying Eagles scored first in the 25th minute through Victor Arikpo’s sublime freekick and they almost extended their lead a few minutes later through Peter Eletu but the cleverly laid pass from Success Makanjuola was not well utilized by the powerfully built attacker.

There was still another goal in the before the end of the first half through Collins Sor. It was a delectable finish from Sor in the 44th minute after he was set up by Saeed Jubrin of Plateau United.

The Flying Eagles scored two further goals in the second half in the 64th and 83rd minutes through Adesina Gata and impressive Jubrin to make it a complete rout of Next Soccer Star.

The Flying Eagles are in Group A of the African Games alongside Morocco, South Africa and Burkina Faso. They will face Burkina Faso on August 16 at the Stade Moulay Hassan, Rabat before trading tackles with South Africa and Morocco on August 20 and 23 respectively at the same stadium. Nigeria came third at the last African Games in Congo Brazzaville four years ago after a 5-3 shootout win over the hosts to claim the bronze medal.
