Ex- AFN board member, Ebewele dies at 63

Former Sports Commissioner, Edo State and current board member, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Brown Ebewele is dead.

He was reported to have died in Warri, Delta State after a surgery he underwent.

The Edo state-born Ebewele was the technical committee head in his first stint in the AFN and he returned to that position in 2017, 19 years after under Tony Urhobo who was president between 1997 and 1998.

He was also was noted to have mastermind the victory of Team Nigeria at the 2003 All African Games hosted by the country when he advised that Nigeria should concentrate on special sports to emerge as overall winner.

He was also said to be instrumental in the employment of over 1000 athletes to the Edo Sports Ministry while he was the Commissioner for Sports in the state.

Born Francis Odianosen Brown Ebewele, he was also a fashion mogul and a former athlete who was the best in Africa at some stages.

He was aged 63.
