President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation Musa Nimrod has praised Nigeria sports journalists for combining sports reporting with active display of soccer artistry.
Nimrod who was the Special guest of honour at the novelty football match organized by Sports Writers covering the ongoing National Youths Games in Ilorin said he was excited with the performances of the journalists on the field of play.
He charged them to continue to give adequate coverage to sporting activities in order to ensure its rapid growth and development through positive promotions just as he made a cash donation of one hundred thousand naira to the two teams.
Also speaking at the event, former Chairman of kwara United FC and Patron of SWAN kwara state Prince Oladimeji Ladi Thompson praised the Media men for being active in the field, stressing that such recreational matches go a long way at keeping them healthy to deliver in their primary assignment.
He made a cash donation of Fifty thousand naira to the two teams and assured them of maximum cooperation in all SWAN programs and activities.
Earlier, the President of SWAN Honour Sirawoo said the essence of regular novelty matches is to bring unity amongst the members as one Professional body aside the health benefits drivable from recreational activities. He made a cash donation of fifty thousand naira with additional one thousand naira for each goal scored and two thousand for away goal scored by the visiting Journalists.
National team Coordinator of SWAN Selected and Executive Secretary of the club owners Association of Nigeria Chief Alloy chukwuemeka coordinated the match alongside the host kwara SWAN.
Most valuable player award was given to the goalkeeper of the visiting SWAN Gabriel Nwanetanya from Rivers while the MVP was awarded to Seasoned sports journalist and Chairman of Warri wolves FC Moses Etu who also donated Thirty thousand naira to the event .
The closing ceremony of the National Youths Games holds today at the University of Ilorin.
