Umar Sadiq’s impressive season continued unabated on Saturday night when he scored one and set up another in Almeria’s 4-1 home win over Lugo in the Spanish La Liga SmartBank.
Sadiq who stepped up to take a penalty kick awarded to Almeria in the 11th minute missed from 12 yards but he was lucky that he had a second chance to tuck the ball home for the opener. It was his second goal in February and his 13th league goals this season.
Cesar de la Hoz equalised for Lugo in the 41st minute but Jose Carlos Lazo in the 48th minute and a double from Jose Corpas in the 69th and 75th made it 4-1 for Almeria with Sadiq responsible for the assist for the fourth goal.
Sadiq who was substituted in the 78th minute has scored 13 league goals from 24 games.
The Best La Liga SmartBank player for January is third in the race for the best marksman in the second division with his 13 goals behind Espanyol’s Raul de Tomas (15 goals) and Uros Djurdjevic of Sporting Gijon (16 goals).
