Chairman of the Imo Football Association, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam has called on Nigerians not to lampoon the Super Eagles over their loss but give encouragement.
According to the CAF Instructor, the team require support to prepare them mentally and psychologically for all their scheduled matches.
He said “Yes, the result of the match against CAR was disappointing, our team is still on track. But the team needs lots of encouragement to dust off the defeat and go ahead to win others. Truth is that the world cup journey is long and challenging, with even more difficult matches yet to come, so we need to encourage the team for them to remain focused”.
Furthermore, he said “No doubt Nigerians love football and every lover of the game desires winnings but the truth is losses will also come. However we must empatize with them when they lose so they can shake it off and go ahead to win other matches yet to be played. But if we lampoon them continuously, it may affect their subconscious. Hence we need to encourage them to do us proud and save us from collective loss”.
The Imo FA boss maintained that there are still matches ahead to enable the team qualify for the revered World Cup saying “Enough of the bashing, let’s encourage them and God willing, they will work harder and do us proud”.
He charged the “Super Eagles players to lift their game. You can do this for all of us. Give Nigerians laughter again. Do us proud and win your remaining matches. I believe in you, we believe in you to take us to the World cup”.
