The Super Falcons put themselves within touching distance of winning the Turkish Women’s Cup in Antalya after they won a second consecutive game yesterday against Uzbekistan to brighten Africa’s chances of winning it for the first time.

A 51st minute strike from Halimat Ayinde was enough to hand Nigeria another important win in Turkey against Uzbekistan who had beaten Equatorial Guinea 5-0 in the first game.

The Asian side created goal-scoring opportunities but they were undone in the final third while the Falcons were also guilty of missing gilt-edge chances with Uchenna Kanu the major culprit.

Nigeria will emerge victorious if they manage at least a point against Equatorial Guinea who has conceded seven goals in two games, on Tuesday in the final group game of the tournament.

Falcons have scored two goals in two games and are the only side yet to concede a goal at the ongoing Turkish Women’s Cup otherwise known as the Festival Women’s Trophy.
