.Want more awareness for Teqball
The duo of Ezinne Favour Otuh of Imo Teqball Club and Ijeoma Julianah Obi of Brave Heart Teqball, Abuja have both charged the organisers of Teqball Challenger Series to create more avenues to enable the sport gets more awareness in the country.
Teqball as a sport has started generating the required awareness under the leadership of Habu Gumel who doubles as the President, Nigeria Olympic Committee and the head, Nigeria Teqball Federation (NIQTEQ) with some of the equipment for the sport already in most part of the Federation.
But Otuh who won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles and Obi who claimed the gold medal also in the same category were affirmative in their submissions that Teqball as a sport still has a lot to do to attain general popularity and that competitions like this need to be held at regular interval to endear the sport to all and sundry.
“I feel so excited. Though the game was not easy but we made it to the third position. I thank God for everything. We are entering the next stage of the programme,” Otuh told journalists.
“Teqball is a nice sport that helps you build up your confidence level and makes you feel happy. It makes you relax and not be in a hurry. You are relaxed to play the game and enjoy it.
“The organisers have really tried. They have put everything in place to ensure that we have a good competition.
“I pray that I become more relevant in the game in Nigeria and also outside the country. I want to represent my country and my state.
Speaking in the same vein, Ijeoma Julianah Obi of Brave Heart, Abuja corroborated the same view.
“I feel good because it was not easy at all but we were able to overcome it. We had the confidence that even when we were trailing in the game, we would come back and win the game,” Obi noted.
“We gave ourselves the necessary encouragement and got the win. It is a very good tournament thus far. I enjoyed the games. The organisers have done very well. I pray to make it to the Teqball World Cup. I pray to go far.
“I will like the Teqball Federation to create more awareness that will make more men and women to develop interest in the sport.”
