Super Eagles Tracker: Okereke, Aribo hit targets; Okoye grabs first season’s clean sheet

Super Eagles midfielder, Frank Onyeka was a surprise unused substitute in Brentford 2-1 home loss to Norwich City who earned their first league win of the season at the Brentford Community Stadium.

At the Emirates Stadium, London, Emmanuel Dennis was replaced in the 74th minute by Watford in his return game after his one-game suspension. Arsenal won the game 1-0 with William Troost Ekong rooted to the bench for 90 minutes.

Alex Iwobi was not called up from the bench by Everton gaffer, Carlo Ancelotti in Everton’s goalless home draw against Tottenham who had Antonio Conte at the dugout in his first EPL tie as a coach of the team while Wilfred Ndidi was yellow carded in Leicester City’s 1-1 away draw at Leeds United’s Elland Road with Kelechi Iheanacho on the bench. Ademola Lookman had a goal disallowed for offside also in the game for the Foxes.

In Spain, Samuel Chukwueze replaced Paco Alcacer in the 71st minute as Villarreal strode to a 1-0 home win over Getafe.

In Italy, David Okereke hit his third Serie A goal for Venezia in 11 games to grab the match-winner in their 3-2 win over embattled AS Roma while Kingsley Michael- less Bologna recorded a 2-1 away victory over Sampdoria.

In France, Samuel Kalu was missing in Bordeaux’s 3-2 home loss to PSG. Lorient’s Terem Moffi bagged an assist in his club’s 2-1 home defeat to Brest while Moses Simon hit his sixth assist of the season in Nantes’ 2-2 draw with Strasbourg. Simon has played in 13 league games with a goal to his credit.

In Holland, Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye bagged his first clean sheet of the season as Sparta Rotterdam thrashed Willem II 3-0.

In Turkey, Super Eagles skipper, Ahmed Musa was available for 79 minutes as Fatih Karagumruk settled for a 1-1 draw at home to Galatasaray.

In Scotland, Joe Aribo netted his third goal of the season in 13 games as Rangers swept aside Ross County 4-2 at the Ibrox. Leon Balogun who bagged his second yellow card of the season was substituted in the 70th minute while 21-years-old Calvin Bassey Ughelumba got his seventh league game of the season.

In Russia, Chidera Ejuke could not conjure up his tricks throughout the 71 minutes he was on the pitch as CSKA Moscow were whipped 4-1 at PFC Sochi while Victor Moses played for 90 minutes as Spartak Moscow came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Lokomotiv Moscow.

In Germany, Taiwo Awoniyi was on for 84 minutes but fired blanks in Union Berlin’s 2-2 away draw at FC Cologne. Awoniyi couldn’t add to his seven league goals but Union Berlin moved to the eighth spot with 17 points from 11 games.

Kevin Akpoguma was replaced in the 79th minute by Hoffenheim who were pinned 2-0 by Bochum.
