Sports Minister, Enoh reiterates the importance of AFN National Trials

The Sports Minister John Enoh has expressed his admiration at the dedication and performance of Nigeria’s track and field athletes, noting that many have achieved personal bests and earned qualifications for the Olympics during these trials.

Sports Minister was in Benin City to support athletes taking part at National Olympic Athletics Trials in Benin and he witnessed the end of hostilities at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Enoh is in Benin city to lend his support to athletes participating in the Nigerian Track and Field Championships and he emphasized the significance of this event in preparing the nation’s top athletes for the upcoming Olympics in Paris.

“Our track and field athletes turned up for the National trials, and this is highly commendable. Some of them have earned qualifications for the Olympics, done their personal best, and much more at these National trials.

“Our athletes have proven their mettle in athletics beyond the continent, and it is our place to give them all the needed support,” said Senator Enoh.

“This is an Olympic year and track and field holds enormous potential for our nation.

‘We thank the leadership of the AFN, coaches, and our superstar athletes who keep breaking barriers to emerge as winners. The government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is solidly behind you.”
The Minister while addressing Journalists said, he would lead Team Nigerian AthIetics contingent to Douala, Cameroon, adding that the well being of AthIetes is key to his administration which is the most important thing that brought him to Benin.
