Zebra FC and Kakuri United FC are through to the semi-final of the
NSM/Walin Kakuri Ramadan Cup after they defeated FC Porto and Kakuri All-Stars to secure the last four berths this weekend.
It was Zebra FC that booked the first flight to the last four after a pulsating penalty shootout win over FC Porto. Both teams were locked at 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time before Zebra FC managed to pip FC Porto 9-8 in nail-biting penalty kicks decided at the Government Day Secondary School, Kakuri, Kaduna.
In the second hotly decided quarter-final tie, Kakuri United had the last laugh beating Kakuri All Stars 1-0 in a closely fought contest. Kabiru Mohammed grabbed the all-important goal for Kakuri United in the 62nd minute of play via a lolse ball from the central defender of Kakuri Old Stars which he latched on for the lone goal of the game.
The remaining two quarter-final ties come up next weekend between Future Eagles and Zifa FC on May 1st and FC Court versus YMCA FC fixed for May 2nd.
The annual football competition which in its fifth edition is aimed at fostering peace, friendship, and unity among the good people of Kakuri, and it is solely sponsored by the Walin Kakuri, Mallam Sani Abdullahi while the owner of Bet9ja, Kunle Soname, Business mogul, Bukola Olopade, 36 Lion President, Hajj Liameed Gafar and a few others have identified with the competition this year.
The competition is due to end on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 with the grand finale.
