Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Jafaru Ango has eulogised the Executive Governor of the State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule for his role in the development of the youths of the state through sports which he confirmed has rubbed off positively on Nasarawa United and other teams in the State of Solid Miners.
Ango who spoke with journalists shortly after Nasarawa United defeated Sokoto United 2-1 at the ongoing Nigeria National League Super Eight Playoff in Enugu on Monday disclosed that the sterling contributions of the Governor of Nasarawa State in all sporting sectors are the reasons the state is being portrayed positively.
The Commissioner affirmed that the plan is to turn Nasarawa State to the hub of sports in the North Central and that with the support of Governor Sule who has invested in sporting infrastructure and manpower development, the state is just few steps from achieving that.
“I have to thank the almighty God for making a way for us. I also have to thank the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr A. A Sule for being with us from the beginning of this campaign till now. And to our boys, the Solid Miners they really played with determination and we came out victorious beating Sokoto United 2-1 and by God’s grace, we are back at the Apex of the Nigeria League Division,” Honourable Ango told journalists in Enugu.
“You can be rest assured that we have a capable Governor who is ready to assist the youths in every way possible. If you come to Nasarawa and take a look at the facilities we have, you’ll come to notice that our Governor invested heavily on them to enable our youths showcase their God given talents. If we look at it, Nasarawa is gradually becoming a zone for the North Central in terms of football and sporting activities in general.”
Honourable Ango tasked Nasarawa United to do everything humanly possible to seal the ticket in the last group game with Sporting Supreme on Wednesday and stage a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League to complement the good works of the State Governor.
The Commissioner also confirmed that the states athletes for the National Youth Games have commenced serious preparations for the competition and that the plan is to surpass the seven medals won at the last Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
“During the last competition in Asaba, Delta State our athletes delivered almost seven medals and so we are going to be there to ensure we build on the success of our last outing.” He added.
