Prizes Galore as BetKing Imo Radio League ends in grand style in Owerri

The month-long BetKing Imo Radio League ended last weekend with funfair and a lot of prizes handed out to winners in a competition that was initiated by Imo State household On-Air Personality, Cosmos Chukwuemeka Okorie.

It is no longer news that surprise package of the competition, Ozisa FM carted home the title after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over IBC Orient FM in the final played on December 8, 2019, at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, Owerri and it was time to reward journalists who abandoned other important activities to make themselves available for the weekend matches.

It was a repeat of the Group B clash which Ozisa FM won by 5-4 in their first game of the competition and Ozisa FM duly deserved the accolades as the maiden champions of the competition for being the only team that won all their matches in the competition.

Ozisa FM deservedly won the trophy with N200,000 cash prize while IBC Orient FM who finished as second after their narrow loss in the grand finale received a cash prize of N100,000.

Darling FM led by the initiator of the competition, Cosmos Chukwuemeka finished third with a cash prize of N50,000 handed out to them while the remaining five participating teams got N30,000 each for their effort at making the maiden edition of the BetKing Imo Radio League a success.

There were also individual prizes too including Chima Eze of IBC Orient FM who finished as the deadliest marksman at the end of the competition with six goals while John Chibuzo (Ozisa FM) ended at the runner up with five goals.

Njoku Joseph (NTA)- four goals, Uzoma Circuit (Reach FM), Ken Idimogu (Ozisa FM), Stanley Okwu (Ozisa FM) were impressive with three goals each.

MC Ogene (Darling FM), Jonathan Opara (IBC Orient), Hardy Nwadike (Bloggers/ Print Media) also lit the competition with two goals each.

The initiator of the competition, Cosmos Chukwuemeka expressed his gratitude to its main sponsor, BetKing Nigeria for putting his vision to reality and also ensuring that they bankrolled it.

He also thanked the competition’s other partners: Tecno, Green Hart Sports Arena and Bar, Mc Jeh and First City Monument Bank (FCMB) for their support and he says he is banking on all of them to make the second edition even grander than the first next year.

BetKing Imo Radio League an initiative of Cosmos Chukwuemeka was put together to ensure that journalists in the Eastern Heartland have the opportunities to involve themselves in recreational activities outside the four walls of their stations and it also helped journalists in the state to mingle and get to know themselves better.
