Super Falcons skipper, Asisat Oshoala has charged the Nigeria Football Federation to ensure the country’s women’s national team is kept busy between now and the next African Women’s Cup of Nations.
Oshoala who thumbed up the NFF for deeming it fit for the Super Falcons to attend the invitational tournament in Turkey also expressed her delight at seeing the Super Falcons bonding together again for the first time in almost two years.
“It is a good feeling to be back together. We hope we can do better at the Turkish Gold Cup but at the end of the day we are just happy to be back together as a team and we have the opportunity to compete with other countries and clubs.
“I’m glad we are back together and hopefully it continues like this. Probably not quite long we shall have the opportunity to come back together again so that we prepare very well for the African Women’s Cup of Nations which is our next big tournament coming up next year.
The Barcelona attacker affirmed that even though they would strive to give their best in all the games they will be playing in Turkey but that the objective was for the team to play together again and not winning the tourney.
“We will try to see if we can do our best to win it but to be honest the goal is not to win it but to make sure the team is getting back in shape together and for us when we get to the pitch, we will give 100 percent. If we can win it, we will do so. We will go all out for the three games.
“It is just the first step in 2021 and hopefully it gets better this year. Personally, there is nothing like a personal goal for me. As the skipper of the team, I just want to make sure the team is together and also ensures the team gets whatever they deserve and also try to speak with the NFF to ensure if we can utilise every International break and make sure we compete with the best of the world,” she enthused.
