Edo Queens continued to soar in the ongoing NWFL Premiership 2022 season with a routine home win as Matchday 11 ties were played across six venues on Wednesday Dasportstainment247.com reports.
Naija Ratels boosted their hope of finishing the regular season in the top three with a valuable away victory in Gombe against Adamawa Queens while Royal Queens surprised even themselves to inflict a rare home defeat on reigning champions, Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt.
Edo continued to show to all that they are a force to reckon with after a decent 2-0 home win over Confluence Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The remain in top position in Group A with 23 points from nine games. The Obaseki Ladies are still unbeaten after nine games.
The defeated Confluence Queens slipped to the fourth spot with 13 points from 10 games.
At the Lanlereke Sports Complex, Ile Ogbo, Osun Babes pipped Nasarawa Amazons 1-0 to move to the fifth spot in Group A with 11 points while Nasarawa Amazons remain In the second spot with 18 points from nine games too.
Also in Group A, Naija Ratels continued to punch above their weight in their debut season in the NWFL Premiership after they completed a double over Adamawa Queens with a 3-2 win in a five goal thriller at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
The One at a Time Ladies had lost 3-0 at home to Edo Queens last midweek for their second home loss of the season but they partly redeemed their image against Adamawa Queens.
The victory put Naija Ratels back in the spotlight for Super 6 ticket as they occupy the third spot in Group A with 15 points from 10 games but Adamawa Queens slipped to the sixth spot with nine points from nine games.
At the Ondo Sports Complex, Akure, Sunshine Queens suffered another embarrassing home loss to Delta Queens to compound their chances of remaining in the elite division next season.
The victory restored Delta Queens back to the playoffs spot in third spot in Group B with 17 points from 10 games but with just four points from nine matches it seems the Owena Mermaids are on the brink of a stint in the lower league.
At the UNIPORT Complex, Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels surprisingly lost to Royal Queens 3-1 in the most shocking result of the Week 11 games. The reverse fixture had ended 4-0 in favour of the Jewel of Rivers in Warri but Royal Queens had their pound of flesh with a resounding win that has boosted their survival chances.
Smarting from scoring a brace against Abia Angels last week, Tosin Ogundeko bagged another double in Port Harcourt on Wednesday in the ninth and 67th minutes with the other coming from Rosemary Adesina in the 51st minute.
