Oasis Ladies made it two straight wins at the Ijebu Ode centre while Beautiful Tours Angels earned maximum points in their opening day fixture at the Abuja Centre as the NWFL Nationwide League season gathered momentum at both centres on Wednesday.
Oasis needed the heroics of their star striker, Dolapo Ariori again who made the difference in their 1-0 victory over FC Phoenix Queens. She had earlier scored twice on Tuesday in their narrow 2-1 over Royaltoms to increase her goal tally to three from two games. Ola Olaronke bagged her second goal of the season after reducing the deficit for Royaltoms who dropped to the third position by the loss.
The two victories have taken Oasis Ladies to the top of the Ijebu Ode centre with six points from two games and a goal difference of plus two ahead of their next game on Thursday.
Dannaz Ladies are second in the group with three points from two games after they bounced back from their opening 1-0 defeat to Moje Queens to beat Omidiran Babes 2-0 on Wednesday. Dannaz are in the second spot with three points because of their superior goals difference over Royatoms (third), and Moje Queens (fourth) who also have three points each.
Royaltom Queens pipped Moje Queens 1-0 through Ola Olaronke’s 55th-minute strike for their first win of the season. It was Olaronke’s second goal of the season. They had begun the season with a close 2-1 defeat to Oasis Ladies on Tuesday.
At the Abuja Centre, Honey Badgers were forced to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Stars on Wednesday in their opening game of the season. Terver Emmanuel put Honey Badger in the ascendancy in the fifth minute but they could not build on the lead as Crystal Stars equalised in the 53rd minute through Zipere Agama.
Beautiful Tour Angels needed two well taken goals from Priscilla Omeje in the 19th and 49th minutes before beating 9ineteen Damsels 2-1. Chioma Nwoji’s 29th minute strike turned out to be a consolation goal for 9ineteen Damsels.
Beautiful Tour have taken the early lead at the Abuja Centre with three points from one game while Crystal Stars and Honey Badgers are second and third with a point each while 9ineteen Damsels are last as they are yet to get off the mark.
