Future Eagles have joined Zebra FC and Kakuri United FC as the three teams that have qualified for the semi-final of the
NSM/Walin Kakuri Ramadan Cup with the last ticket to be decided later today at the Government Day Secondary School, Kakuri, Kaduna State.
You will recall that Zebra FC booked the first flight to the last four after a pulsating penalty shootout win over FC Porto last weekend. Both teams were locked at a 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time before Zebra FC managed to pip FC Porto 9-8 in a nail-biting penalty shootout.
While in the second hotly contested quarter-final tie, Kakuri United defeated Kakuri All Stars 1-0 in a closely fought tie decided through Kabiru Mohammed’s 62nd-minute strike.
Future Eagles became the third team to qualify after they thrashed Zifa FC 2-0 in the game decided on Saturday at the Government Day Secondary School, Kakuri.
Zifa FC central defender, Yunusa Ibrahim shot Future Eagles ahead through an own goal after he inexplicably fired his desperate clearance into his team’s net in the 31st minute. Zifa FC never recovered from that setback and Julius James put a seal on the Future Eagles’ place in the semi-final with the second goal in the 66th minute.
FC Court will file with the lucky loser, YMCA FC today with the final semi-final ticket up for grabs at the same action spot: Government Day Secondary School, Kakuri, Kaduna State.
The Walin Kakuri Ramadan Cup is an annual football competition which is in its fifth edition is aimed at fostering peace, friendship, and unity among the good people of Kakuri, and it is solely sponsored by the Walin Kakuri, Mallam Sani Abdullahi.
The competition is due to end on Thursday, May 13th, 2021 with the grand finale.
