North East Elite Basketball Heats up Gombe State

The Adamu Yola Foundation in collaboration with the Jordan Nwora Foundation on Friday, 9th of April started the much anticipated North East Elite Basketball Camp in Gombe, Gombe state.

Declaring the event open, Gombe state.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mr. Julius Ishaya Lapes, tasked the players to stay focus and make the most of the opportunity presented them by the Adamu Yola Ture and Jordan Nwora Foundations.

The participating boys and girls began their training under the tutelage of the D’Tigers Associate Head Coach, Alex Nwora and visiting coaches from the USA- Natasha Cummings-Price (Head, Women’s Basketball & Assistant Men’s Coach, Eriee Community College).

FIBA instructor, Nick Sepe was also on ground alongside some local coaches to tutor the raw talents at the camp.

Speaking at the end of day one, Tobiloba Akande from Gombe said it was an exciting moment for him for such an opportunity to participate in the three days camp.

“I feel excited to be selected to represent my state and I will put in extra effort because the opportunity I see here today does not come by at all time”.

For Blessing Sa’idu from Yobe state, she said, “I am having fun and making new friends. I have never played on this kind of court before because we don’t have it in Damaturu as I only see it on TV. I told my parents before leaving home that I will be focused and pay attention to everything the coaches will be teaching us”.

The Adamu Yola Elite camp which is for boys and girls between the ages of 14 to 18 years have 64 boys and 32 girls in attendance with Adidas as the official kit sponsor.
