Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri has asked the Board of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) to award them the result of the disputed NLO 1 promotion Playoffs final against Dynamite Force played at the Eket Stadium, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday after they alleged that their opponent prosecuted the game with some players with double registrations
Kun Khalifat FC lodged a complaint to the Board of the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) on the case of double registrations against three of the players of Dynamite Force FC who featured against them in the Promotion playoffs final.
Dynamite Force though won the game 1-0, but Kun Khalifat have written a strong worded protest letter to the NLO 1 insisting that the result of the game had been tainted after Dynamite Force used players who had featured for another team, Junosa FC in the group stage of the NLO 1 at Benin centre, also this season.
Prominent among the players that played for Junosa FC and then got re-registered by Dynamite Force FC allegedly for the game with Kun Khalifat was a certain player named Obinna (surname withheld) who featured for the Edo team, Junosa FC and played alongside Dynamite Force during the NLO 1 playoffs at the Benin Centre.
After the elimination of Junosa FC during the 2023 NLO1 group stage in Benin centre where they lost the sole ticket in the group to Dynamite Force FC, it was reported that Dynamite Force FC re-registered three players from Junosa FC, including Obinna whose name was allegedly changed to Chidera Michael for him to play for them.
Speaking with journalists in Owerri, the General Manager, Kun Khalifat FC, Ray Ebede informed that the club has sent a protest letter to the NLO 1 organisers to ensure the laid down rules and regulations are strictly adhered to and followed to the letter.
He said the rule governing the lower league indicates what would happen to a case of double registration of players with a view to get past your opponents through dubious means and that Kun Khalifat is waiting on the NLO Board to stick to the rule book and award them the game.
“The report is about the double registration of a player whose name in JUNOSA FC license is OBINNA, while he used another name CHIDERA MICHAEL in Dynamite force FC license. But the image in both pictures bear the same semblance,” Ebede disclosed
“JUNOSA FC is a team in Edo State and they played with Dynamite Force FC in the group stage of the NLO 1 this season.
“JUNOSA FC didn’t not qualify from the group but Dynamite did as group winner and signed him and two other players of Junosa FC to play for them in the promotion playoffs against us to improve their chances of beating us.
“Kun Khalifat FC played the NLO 1 promotion game against Dynamite Force FC in Eket on Sunday under protest and we have already submitted our protest letter to the board through the Centre Coordinator and Match Commissioner at match venue.”
