The long awaited official opening of the National Sports festival #NSF2020 got underway on Tuesday with the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare charging athletes to shun drugs and eschew violence.
The Minister said there has been strict adherence to all covid 19 protocols as tests were carried out on all participants, numbering about 6,500 with only five been isolated as precaution measure.
He advised that all rules to make the event successful and safe must be respected by everyone, the rules would not be bent for anybody.
” This Festival is coming at a most auspicious time when we need unity, love and the discovery of athletes at all levels as we continue our preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. I urge all athelets to avoid cheating, drugs and any acts inimical to the aims and objectives of the Festival. Stars will be discovered, records would be broken and friendship will be fostered.”
