Nantes have been very erratic in the French League this term and are presently 14th with 13 points from 13 games. Simon has featured 10 times for Nantes.

In a related development, Josh Maja helped Bordeaux secure a 1-0 home win over Brest also on Sunday.

Former French International, Hatem Ben Alfa popped home the winning goal six minutes from time and the maximum points took Bordeaux to 10th spot with 19 points from 13 games.

Maja played for 62 minutes before he was replaced by Jimmy Briand. His compatriot, Samuel Kalu is still out injured.

In Russia, Chidera Ejuke’s CSKA Moscow were held to a 2-2 draw by Brian Idowu’s Khimki in a Premier League tie played at VEB Arena on Sunday.

Nikola Vlasic shot CSKA ahead in the 40th minute but quickfire goals from IIya Kukharchuk and Rezivan Mirzov in the 47th and 51st minutes turned the initiatives to Idowu’s Khimki.

But Ejuke save his team’s blushes with the crucial pass from which IIya Shkurin netted the equaliser for CSKA in the 54th minute. CSKA were unable to find the winning goal and have fallen to third on the league table two points adrift of first position with 33 points from 17 games.
