Kano State Government will reward the 2019 Aiteo Cup champions, Kano
Pillars on Tuesday evening in an elaborate dinner at the Government
House, Kano.
Pillars were unlucky losers of the same competition in 2018 when they
were beaten on penalties by Enugu Rangers after they let slip a 3-0
lead at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba in last year’s final but they
made amend this term after they defeated Niger Tornadoes by the same
spot-kick at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
It was a painful loss that elicited the temporary retrenchment of
their head coach, Ibrahim Musa before he was reinstated due to the
intervention of the power-that-be.
The head coach in an interview with DaSportsTainment247.com disclosed
that they would return back to Kano on Monday afternoon and thereafter
proceed to the Government House, Kano to deliver the Aiteo Cup crown
to the sports-loving Kano State Government, Abdullahi Ganduje.
He said they plan to move around the Kano metropolis in a motorcade to
celebrate the trophy won with their fans and supporters as soon as
they arrive the state from Kaduna.
“We have been told that the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje will
have dinner with us on Tuesday and there his pronouncement on what
will be our reward for winning the Aiteo Cup will be made known,” Musa
told DaSportsTainment247.com.
“We are going to arrive Kano on Monday after we have played about six
matches here in Kaduna. We won four games and lost two to John Utaka
Academy, Minna and AllStars of Zaria whom we later beat in the
rematch.
“We are not going to play any friendly game again until the game on
Saturday in Kano. We will give the players the deserve rest but will
still be training regularly to ensure we are fit and ready for Asante
Kotoko.”
Kano Pillars are making a return to the continent for the first time
since 2015 when they played in the CAF Champions League before their
elimination in the first round by the Moroccan side, Moghreb Tetouan
5-2 on aggregate.
