The Imo state honourable Commissioner for Sports & Youth Development, Hon. Dan Ogu has congratulated the management and players of Heartland Football Club of Owerri on the victory recorded over Adamawa United on Sunday when the second stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) went underway.
The Naze Millionaires won the game in which they dominated most of the proceedings by a fantastic lone goal scored by Kingsley Maduforo in the 80th minute of the titanic tussle.
Ogu commended the players for their skills, resilience and well deserved victory over Adamawa United.
He stated that “The players showed their dogged capacity and capability as always. The victory of the team is well deserved and worthy”.
He commended the Technical Adviser, Fidelis Illechukwu and his team for being unrelenting in their good works and urged them to continue to push for at least a continental ticket as Ndi Imo are solidly behind them in their quest”.
The commissioner showered praises on the shared prosperity, sports and youth friendly governor of Imo state, distinguished senator Hope Uzodinma for his solid and superb support towards Heartland FC in particular and rehabilitating as well as reconstructing and uplifting the Imo sports sector in general.
Hon. Ogu advocated private sector participation in sports development in Nigeria’s Eastern Heartland, adding that sports should not be seen as a leisure activity but business endeavour.
