The chairman Imo Football Association Barrister Ifeanyi Dike (Fela) has hailed the successful reign of the former Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo (Agujiegbe) for his impeccable achievements while in the sports ministry.
Barrister who extolled the impressive achievements of Okoronkwo as the sports commissioner stated that all the Okigwe born politician attained as Commissioner would take years to rival.
Okoronkwo served in the first tenure of the administration of His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma as the commissioner for sports, Youths and social development and sports in Imo state thrived, experienced peace and rapid development under his watch as the commissioner.
Having began his second tenure on Tuesday 16th of January immediately after his inauguration, Governor Uzodimma dissolved all executives, commissioners, Special Advisers and senior special assistants, pending the announcement of a new executive board.
Dike applauded the zeal determination and support Okoronkwo gave to Heartland FC which enabled them to get a rapid return from the relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) and back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) while also noting other impressive outings of Team Imo at the National Sports Festival and other competitions the state attended.
In his message to the honourable commissioner for sports, Dike said:
“May I with every sense of humility, congratulate Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo, for a wonderful stay and various achievements, progress and developments made in the office, as Commissioner for youths and sports development, Imo state.
“As the Chairman, Imo state football Association, I make bold to state, that your approach to issues, decisions, actions and leadership style, really skyrocketed sports generally in Imo state, All sports sectors not only football, was seen and being put to life again, your reign in the office really boasted the moral of our athletes, both male and female, where everyone one is seen and carried along accordingly.
“Your magic in bringing back Heartland from relegation, and leading Heartland queens, where they ought to be, which is topping, their group in the ongoing female league, attests to the fact you are a guru in the field, despite the present internal issues faced by Heartland this season, which we believe have come to an end, by the intervention of the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma(onwa Oyoko), with the aim to get it well, and it is well.
“I use this singular opportunity to Say Big Congratulations , for a successful and wonderful stay in office.
“I urge you to keep being the Good Gentleman you are, do not Change or succumb to pressure , to please and impress anyone, your actions speaks for you.” Dike concluded.
Other sports stakeholders like Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo Chapter and others also added their voices as they offered congratulatory messages to the sports commissioner for a successful tenure in office.
