All is now set for the grand finale of the Ikukuoma Foundation’s Owerri Zone Secondary Schools Football Tournament as Comprehensive Secondary School, Orji square up with Ezeagbogu Secondary School, Ezinihitte Mbaise to battle for the grande prize and a giant
trophy at the practice pitch, Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
It is the climax of an exciting tournament that began November 2nd and with the support of High Chief Summers Nwokie and the technical assistance from Like-Minds Fitness Club the tournament has lived up to its billings with several top players spotted already.
CSS Orji defeated Obizi High School, Ezinihitte Mbaise 2-1 in the semi final to book a date in the final with Ezeagbogu Secondary School, Ezinihitte Mbaise ended the run of Owalla Avuvu Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikeduru 4-2 on penalties after the game had ended 2-2 apiece at the end of the regulation period, in the second semi final.
21 Schools from Owerri Zone took part in the three weeks tournament with so many impressive results and talents discovered.
Ahead of the grand finale, so many wonderful incentives and heartwarming prizes are to be won by the participating schools. The winner of the tournament will smile home with N200,000 while the second and third will receive N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
Players and schools that distinguished themselves would also be rewarded. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the competition; Highest scorer; and Best Goalkeeper will each receive N10,000 while the Most Disciplined School will be rewarded with N50,000.
The debut edition of the tournament was solely sponsored by High Chief Summers Nwokie while Like-Minds Fitness Club, Owerri helped to package it.
