ABIA WARRIORS vs NGWA UNITED

Abia Warriors will see out their last group game on Thursday morning at the ongoing Governor Ikpeazu Pre-season Tournament against already eliminated Ngwa United. The fixture is by no means less important because the winner of Group B will dodge a semi-final tie with Enyimba who are already Group A leaders.

Plateau United exhausted their group stage games on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Flight FC. They are presently in the first position in Group B with 10 points from four games but their undoing is their lack of sufficient goals in the tournament. A win against Ngwa United for Abia Warriors who have superior goals difference will see them leapfrog Plateau United as Group B winners and are likely to slug it out with either Abia Comets or A&A FC in Friday’s semi-final.

CYNOSURE FC vs JEWEL FC

Even though Abia Comets and A&A FC have been touted as having a fighting chance to pick the last semi-final berth from Group A, but Jewel FC are also in the picture too.

If Jewel FC can beat the whipping team of the group, Cynosure FC on Thursday by a wide margin, and Enyimba continue their roller-coaster run with another win against Abia Comets, it could swing the initiative in the direction of Jewel FC.

It has been a rather disappointing tournament for Cynosure FC by their lofty heights and their lacklustre performance had already consumed their head coach, Shina Afolabi who left by mutual consent. Can they finish the tournament with a flourish against Jewel FC?

ABIA GREATER TOMORROW vs FLIGHT FC

Abia Greater Tomorrow failed to secure their first points of the Governor Ikpeazu Pre-season Tournament on Wednesday after they were beaten 3-1 by Ngwa United for their third straight loss. The Uche Okechukwu owned club have nothing to lose against Flight FC of Gboko on Thursday afternoon and they must be willing to take some risks if they want to end their barren spell against Flight FC.

Flight FC have managed a win in the tournament and they will be delighted to end with two against Abia Greater Tomorrow before commencing their long journey back to Gboko.

ABIA COMETS vs ENYIMBA

It is, without doubt, the star fixture of Matchday Five of the Governor Ikpeazu Pre-season Tournament holding at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Abia Comets still have their destiny in their hands. They need just a point to scale through to the semi-final but they are up against dreaded Enyimba who despite heavy rotating their squad have maintained a 100 percent record until now. The amount of rotation Enyimba’s Fatai Osho will be willing to make will determine if Abia Comets will have a chance or not.

Abia Comets seemed to have coped well after their first game loss to A&A FC they have managed to win their next two games to Cynosure FC and Jewel FC but their biggest test is the Thursday tie with the People’s Elephant.

Enyimba have won their three games but it was their 4-0 spanking of Cynosure FC on Sunday that caught people’s attention. Their routine win over Jewel FC and A&A FC was not convincing enough for a club that will face Rahimo FC of Burkina Faso in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League next weekend. They have a lot to prove against Abia Comets as they prepare for Friday’s semi-final tie against either Abia Warriors or Plateau United.
