.secures second assist of the season in club’s away draw
Ex-Flying Eagles right wing back, Hamdi Akujobi was impressive and was awarded the- man- of- the- match as he provided the assist, in Almere City 1-1 away draw at Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivisie Matchweek 29 tie played last weekend.
The modest Dutch side has drawn their last six consecutive matches to occupy 12th position on the 20 teams log table with 33 points.
A well executed assist to Almere City’s leading scorer, Thomas Robinet in the 23rd minute for their equalizer was his highlight of the night against Go Ahead Eagles who had taken an 11th minute lead through Valaker Edvardsen. He was not to be denied the Man of the Match accolade at the end of the game.
The overlapping and offensive minded wing back, has had his playing time this season seriously hampered by a nagging injury, otherwise, his performances have been mind-blowing. He sustained a knee complaint on October 21st last year in an away game against NEC Nijmegen and had to be replaced.
The hard working utility player staged a comeback on January 27th, 2024 agsinst PSV Eindhoven after appearing as unused Substitute in opening two matches of the year. He was available for 45 minutes.
But with the little Akujobi has done this season, he has been able to convince many top clubs in Europe with his displays as they scramble for his signature.
Teams from England, Germany amongst others are all looking to prize away the player in the coming months.
The 24 years old has featured in 18 topflight games in Almere City’s debut season. He previously represented Heerenveen whom he joined in 2018-19 season but he had to leave for Almere in July, 2022 to get more playing time.
