French National Olympic Committee President hails Gumel’s NOC re-election

The President, French National Olympic Committee, Brigitte Henriques has congratulated the newly reelected President, Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel.

Gumel was returned as the NOC President on December 15th, 2022 in Jalingo, Taraba State after defeating Engineer Sani Ndanusa in a close contest and encomiums have been pouring in from the sporting world thumbing up the reelection of the former Nigeria Volleyball Federation President for another term.

Henriques in a letter he signed and addressed to the NOC President, praised the reelected NOC boss and he also called for collaborations between Nigeria and the French National Olympic Committee in sports with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games less than two years away.

He hailed the Nigeria Olympic Committee family for trusting the ability of Gumel for another stint and he enjoined the new Executive Board to work towards uplifting Nigerian sports.

“It is with great pleasure that I was informed of your reelection as President of the NOC during the election on the 15th of December 2022,” Henriques stated in a statement sent to the NOC which he signed.

“This is a remarkable recognition of your commitment to promote Sports Values in Nigeria and around the world, as well as a great deal of trust in your ability.

“On behalf of the French National Olympic Committee, I would like to congratulate you very warmly and wish you and your team a lot of success in the upcoming sports events.”

“This mandate will go through a particularly busy time for the Olympic Movement, until the Paris Olympics in 2024, when I would greatly appreciate to welcome you.

“Hence, I wish you the best and I am looking forward to collaborating with you whenever you deem it beneficial to the sports movement in Nigeria.”
