The Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P has joined other Nigerians to congratulate the President, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Mr Melvin Amaju Pinnick over his victory at FIFA Council seat held in Morocco.
In a statement by Chief Conatus Agu Ejidike, J.P, the deserved victory is a success not only to Amaju Pinnick but to the entire country which must be celebrated.
Ejidike recalled that in the past, most sensitive posts in the world football governing authority from Africa had been dominated by Francophone nations; and, now that the likes of Pinnick are breaking the ground, there is a need to celebrate and rally support for him.
In his words, “Nigeria need to have her voice at international levels particularly at FIFA and CAF in the game of football, hence, the need to have Nigerian occupying seats to lend Nigerian voice at the level of decision making which makes the victory of Pinnick a highly desirable one. We should not bring or pull him down, rather we should give him all the necessary support for him to succeed. He has done his best as the NFF president, let’s all wish him the best in his new assignment”.
The Sports philanthropist noted that it is very unfortunate that we are not our brother’s keeper which has greatly slowed down our progress in Nigeria. ” Amaju Pinnick is a Nigerian, he is our own let’s offer him advice and counsel that will make him become a benefit to Nigeria. “
It will be recalled that Melvin Amaju Pinnick won at the 43rd CAF General Assembly elections held in Morocco for the FIFA seat where he defeated Malawi’s Walter Nyamilaadou 43 to 8 votes.
