EAGLES EURO WATCH: Awoniyi hits third goal of the season; Adeboyejo scores as Ajayi, Solanke, others shine in Europe

Nigerian players were involved in league and cup games for their clubs midweek and www.dasportstainment247.com has taken time to xray the performance of some of them that took to the pitch on Tuesday.

In the ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE, Semi Ajayi was rock solid for West Brom for his 12th game of the season as the Baggies secured an unlikely away draw at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.

Many thought the Sky Blues would trample over the Baggies when IIkay Guendogan put them in the ascendancy in the 30th minute but West Brom with Ajayi in imperious form forced Ruben Dias to score an own goal in the 43rd minute. Man City tried all possible means to get the winner but West Brom got a famous away draw to improve to seven points from 13 games. They are however still in the drop zone.

In the ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP, John Obi Mikel was a noticeable absentee again as Stoke City picked a valuable away point at Queen’s Park Rangers. QPR paraded Bright Osayi-Samuel who was on for 90 minutes.

Dominic Solanke played for 81 minutes but fired blank while former Flying Eagles striker, Nnamdi Ofoborh was on the bench in Bournemouth’s 1-0 home win over Wycombe Wanderers who had three Nigerian eligible in their squad. Akin Akinfenwa lasted the whole 90 minutes while Fred Onyedinma came on in the 69th minute but Uche Ikpeazu was an unused sub.

At the Vicarage Road, William Troost Ekong was available for Watford in their 1-1 draw with Brentford while a certain Victor Adeboyejo got the match-winner in the 80th minute for Barnsley in their 2-1 win over Preston North End.

Former Flying Eagles invitee, Sammy Ameobi resurfaced for Nottingham Forest in their 2-0 home win against Sheffield Wednesday.

In GERMAN BUNDESLIGA, Taiwo Awoniyi’s Union Berlin let slipped a two goal lead to play a 2-2 draw with VFB Stuttgart. Awoniyi playing in his 10th game of the season notched his third goal of the campaign. He previously scored against Hertha Berlin and Cologne.

In ITALY, Simy Nwankwo’s Crotone followed up their last weekend’s first victory of the season against Spezia to earn a point at Dacia Arena-Stadio Friuli against Udinese. They are last with six points from 12 games but have secured four points from a possible six in their last two matches.
