Heartland FC players have been warned against getting complacent as they slug it out with Cynosure FC this afternoon at the Pa Oruta Ngele Stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

The Owerri side are atop the Southern Conference B4 with six points from two games following victories over Abia Comets and Ibom Youth FC.

As they face Cynosure FC who only have a point to show their efforts after two games, Imo State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo has warned them not to get carried away by their good start.

He said the mandate from the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma is for Heartland FC to seal Nigeria Premier Football League return and that getting another win against Cynosure FC will take them closer to their aspirations.

“It is the same mandate to Heartland FC. They must go to Abakaliki and ensure they grind out the three points at stake against Cynosure FC,” Honourable Okoronkwo said.

“Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has made it clear that a return to the top flight will gladden his heart. It is our resolve too for Heartland FC. They won their first two games but it is just the start of the journey. They should go to Abakaliki with the same determination to grab the three points on offer.

“They don’t need to get complacent knowing that the earlier the better for them to start picking points both home and away. They have the support of all Imo people. Let them go and excel,” he concluded.
