The 2025 Contrompler General of the Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League first phase entered Day Four on Tuesday with thrilling battles across both the men’s and women’s categories, as favourites continued to stamp their authority while a few sides bounced back from earlier setbacks.
In the men’s fixtures, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) continued their resurgence by overpowering UCEM VC 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23). The victory reaffirmed CNS’ strong run after their Day Two triumph, keeping them firmly among the front-runners as the reigning champion.
Kano Pillars also proved their resilience in a pulsating five-set clash against NAF Rockets, winning 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12). The win served as redemption after their narrow Day Two slip, confirming their status as one of the sides to watch.
Offa VC (OVC), who were beaten on Day Two, have managed to secure a rare win beating Nigeria Correctional Service 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22).
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) maintained their consistent form, bouncing back from a dropped opening set to outlast Sunshine Spikers 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 28-26, 25-18). Similarly, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) brushed aside Kada Kings in straight sets (25-14, 25-17, 25-17), while COAS Spikers made light work of Nigeria Police Force with another 3-0 win (25-21, 29-27, 25-19).
In the women’s division, Nigeria Customs Service remained untouchable, brushing aside Kada Emeralds 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-17), a continuation of their flawless displays since Day Two. CNS Spikers also turned in a solid performance, sweeping Anambra Queens 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-14) to build on their earlier victories.
Life Camp VC produced one of the standout results, edging Benue Queens 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20), while COAS Spikers crushed Wikki Queens 3-0 in emphatic fashion (25-13, 25-9, 25-4). NAF Rockets equally imposed themselves with a 3-0 win over Olalomi Queens (26-24, 25-15, 25-15).
With four matchdays gone, Nigeria Customs Service, CNS Spikers and COAS Spikers are asserting dominance in both men’s and women’s categories, while Kano Pillars and Offa VC remain strong contenders in the men’s competition. The momentum heading into Day Five promises even fiercer battles as the chase for early leadership intensifies.
