Almere City proved their last weekend away win at FC Utrecht was no fluke following their 1-0 home win over RKC Waalwijk to earn their second topflight victory in the Dutch Eredivisie Matchday 8 played on Saturday.
The newly promoted elite division side with the former Flying Eagles star, Hamdi Akujobi in their midst had beaten FC Utrecht 2-0 for their first win in the top division before adding RKC Waalwijk to the list of their victims to make it second consecutive first division league win in their history.
Almere City had secured their first topflight point on September 17th, a goalless draw at Excelsior but hardly had they celebrated that, that they were given reality check when they were demolished 4-0 at home by PSV Eindhoven barely a week after their heroics at Excelsior.
But Akujobi and his team cooled down and it was no surprise they bounced back in the very next game beating FC Utrecht away 2-0 before the RKC Waalwijk fell 1-0 on Saturday.
Just like in previous seven games, Akujobi started the game and he and his teammates fought like wounded lion and they deservedly took the lead in the 32nd minute through Thomas Robinet and it was how the game ended.
After the orientation they had received in the form of losses at the beginning of the season and the two consecutive wins they have got, it is safe to say that Almere City FC have withstood all adversities and are poised to get the necessary points that will keep them in the Dutch Eredivisie beyond this season.
With those valuable wins and the draw, Almere City have moved to the 14th spot tentatively with seven points from eight games.
They will visit NEC Nijmegen on October 21st after the international break with the determination to continue with their new found form.
