Oska FC of Kaltungo and Kulishin United have both picked the first two quarter-final tickets of the ongoing 6th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup after they defeated their opponents in the games played on Friday at the Billiri Township Stadium.

In the first second round encounter, Oska trounced Ture United 4-0 with Joseph Gambo scoring a brace in the seventh and 67th minutes while Babangida Ibrahim and Fabregas Samson added a goal each in the 23rd and 81st minutes.

Oska FC were the favourites going into the game and it took them only seven minutes to prove that when Joseph Gambo latched on a left wing cross from Bilyaminu Gambo to put his team him a goal up.

Oska’s lead came at the back of a clear chance missed by Dauda Haruna of Ture United shortly before the curtain raiser.

Ture United pushed for an equaliser but their front men failed to convert some golden chances.

Oska FC being the most experienced side extended their lead with a goal similar to the first when Babangida Ibrahim tapped in a low cross passed a stranded Ture United keeper.

Ture United thought they had equalised when Christopher Musa went one on one with the Oska goalie and but he missed the scoring opportunity as the game went into halftime with Oska leading 2-0.

A miscommunication between Ture United defenders almost gifted Oska the chance to extend their lead but their goalkeeper was well stationed to keep Oska at bay. The goaltender later became the villain after fumbling a headed back pass allowing Bilyaminu Adamu to pick the ball and lay a pass to unmarked Joseph Gambo who tapped in for his brace in the 67th minute to extend Oska’s lead to 3-0.

A wonderful 25 yard volley by Fabregas Samsom in the 81st minute beat Ture’s Enock Usman to wrap up the score for brilliant Oska.

In the second game of the day, Kulishin United pipped giant killers, Golkos United 1-0 to put an end to the roller coaster run of the tournament’s debutants.

It was Golkos United that prevented Bare City who came second last year from qualifying from the first round but they were unable to find any answers to the plucky Kulishin United who scored a goal and sat on it until the end of the game.

Oska FC will meet Kulishin United in a quarter-final tie slated for Wednesday, December 22nd, 2Matches

Matches continue this afternoon, December 18th with Kalkulum United in a testy game with Kaltungo Boys while the Balanga LGA Team are to contend with Dong United. Both games hold at the Billiri Township Stadium, Gombe.
