The quarter-final matches of the ongoing 2nd Akarachi Mbaike Unity Cup will commence today, Sunday December 26th after the conclusion of the draw at the corporate headquarters of Akarachi Foundation along Okigwe Road, Owerri on Saturday December 25th.
Ogbaku, Orodo B and Orodo A are the teams that made it to the quarter-final stage from Mbaitoli centre while Amakohia, Amaimo and Akabo emerged from Ikeduru centre.
The draw was conducted by the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Godson Onyemaobi who is the immediate past General Manager of Heartland FC and other officials of the competition.
It was agreed that the remaining six teams will be involved two round-robin matches from two groups of three teams each.
Four teams are expected to qualify from the two groups.
At Mbaitoli centre, Ogbaku will face Orodo B today, Sunday December 26th at the Ifakala Community Secondary School, Ifakala while Orodo A and Ogbaku will clash on December 27th. Orodo A and Orodo B will complete the game on December 28th.
At the Ikeduru centre, Amakohia and Amaimo will begin hostilities today Sunday December 26th while Akabo and Amakohia will slug it out on December 27th. Amaimo and Akabo will draw the quarter-final fixtures to a close on December 28th.
The 2nd Akarachi Mbaike Unity Cup is bankrolled by Engineer Akarachi Amadi who is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Akarachi Foundation and Integrity Group Initiative(IGI).
